Heber Scenic Drives
The countryside is beautiful no matter which road you follow into or out of the Heber area. However, the three routes listed below are particularly noteworthy and have won formal designation as scenic backways and byways.
Alpine Loop Scenic Backway
The Alpine Loop Scenic Backway (Hwy 92) circles around the east side of Mount Timpanogos and is accessible via American Fork Canyon on the north and Provo Canyon on the south. It climbs to high elevations and skirts past Sundance Ski Resort.
Mirror Lake Scenic Byway
The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (Hwy 150) ascends the western Uinta Mountains, climbing to an elevation of over 10,000 feet, as it runs between Kamas and Evanston Wyoming. Along the way it passes through lush forest and provides access to countless lakes and streams.
Provo Canyon Scenic Byway
The Provo Canyon Scenic Byway (Hwy 189) follows the Provo River between Heber City and the city of Provo. It passes Deer Creek Reservoir and Bridal Veil Falls.
